Frequently Asked Questions
Can a speaker submit more than one proposal?
Yes. A speaker may submit more than one proposal, but each
proposal must be submitted separately through the CFP system by June
1, 2021 to be considered.
If I am selected to speak, what is the deadline to accept?
Selected speakers will be notified by June 25th and must accept
their invitation to speak and provide speaker release form, bio,
session abstract, and photo by July 1.
Am I required to come to the physical event in Washington, DC if I
am chosen as a speaker?
No. When you submit your session for consideration, you can
choose if you would like to conduct your session live at the event or
pre-record it for the virtual platform.
Will selection preference be given to speakers who agree to be
on-site in Washington, DC?
No. We are happy to accommodate speaker preference. All
sessions, whether presented in-person at the event or virtually, will
be featured on the virtual platform and available to in-person and
virtual attendees.
What if I change my mind, once I have chosen whether I want to
speak in person or virtually?
We understand the fluidity of health and safety concerns and
are glad to accommodate changes in preference, where possible. We
encourage you to let us know as soon as you can if your preferences
change. The ability to present in person will be dependent on
available space. In addition, virtual sessions must meet the event
content development deadlines in order to be included in the event.
Will all virtual sessions need to be pre-recorded?
Yes. Virtual sessions must be completed and submitted by early
September. If your session is accepted for the event, you will be
provided a schedule for content development deadlines at the time of acceptance.
Will all live presentations at the event be recorded for on-demand viewing?
Yes. Live sessions will be recorded for on-demand viewing at
the conclusion of the event.
What health and safety precautions are being taken for the on-site
event in Washington, DC?
We are hoping for and planning an in-person event with a
virtual element. We will adhere to CDC and local Washington, DC
recommendations for health and safety, and will continue to provide
updates on our website as soon as they become available.
What if I have a great idea for a topic after the submission
deadline has passed?
We are reserving a very limited number of spaces for emerging
topics. The deadline for submitting emerging topics is August 27.

What is the FireEye Cyber Defense Summit registration fee for
speakers and what does it include?
Registration for speakers is complimentary and includes entry
to all sessions and keynotes along with continental breakfast, lunch
and receptions, if on-site. Registration does not include the
pre-Summit training courses.
Will hotel and travel costs be covered for speakers?
Hotels will be paid for all non-FireEye speakers for up to 3
nights over October 5-7 at the Washington Hilton. Airfare and all
other transportation costs are the responsibility of the speaker.
Will speakers needed to sign a release form?
All speakers will need to sign a release form as part of their
acceptance. Accepted speakers will be sent a form to complete.
What is the length of a session?
Each session is 45-minutes long, including time for Q & A.
We are open to splitting the session for the presentation of two
related topics, if appropriate. FireEye will provide a presentation
template for you to use.
What A/V is provided for presentations?
For on-site presentations, A/V set up will include stage,
lectern, screens, LCD projector, laptop, microphone(s), internet
connection, and wireless mouse. For virtual presentations, some remote
recording support can be provided, if needed.
Will there be an opportunity for practice runs?
We will make every effort to schedule time for an on-site
practice run before your session. In the event this is not feasible
due to logistics, we will make every effort to schedule a virtual session.
